Joining The Squadron
The mission of the RCAF Commemorative Squadron is to preserve the history, customs and traditions of the RCAF during World War 2, (1939-1945) and the Golden Years, (1946-1968).
The role of the RCAFCS is to train both airmen and airwomen on the ground in order that they may be an efficient, knowledgeable and contributing member of the RCAFCS. The RCAFCS will train its members as close as reasonably possible to the standard expected of airmen and airwomen serving in the RCAF.
Eligibility
- Age - The candidate must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
- Character - Must be of good character and possess a high level of self-motivation.
- Education - The candidate will be expected to maintain certain levels of education in accordance with the Squadron Training Plan.
- Physical Fitness - Some activities may be physically demanding. Members are encouraged to follow some type of fitness, or make use of the RCAF BX Fitness Trg Plan provided by the squadron.

Orientation and Interview
Once your application form is receieved and reviewed, You will be invited to attend an orientation day. After the orientation, you will be interviewed by RCAFCS. The interview will assess your suitability in your specific interest in the Squadron. You should prepare by researching RCAF history and the role you are interested in. What is the role of your desired trade/impression? What appeals to you about the trade/era/impression? You should come prepared to discuss your prior experience with living history groups, military/cadet service and other related activities.
Offer and Enrollment
Finally, your member application and interview answers are examined and you may be invited to join our ranks. If you are invited to enroll, you will receive a period specific enrollment offer. As part of the offer process, you will be provided with an enrolment date and basic course start date. There may be a wait period before you are officially enrolled. You are encouraged to continue to learn all you can about the RCAF's history during this time! Once you have been enrolled, then your training can begin!
Costs
As with any organization such as a sports team or other hobby, there are various costs involved. Personal costs would include acquisition of uniforms and equipment, travel, non-squadron event fees, etc. These will be covered with you during orientation.
